Finding (and Sustaining) Your Fitness Groove
For me, maintaining permanent fitness means "finding my fitness groove."
What does that mean exactly?
Well, let me explain.
Have you ever been hyper-focused on something and achieved what you wanted to accomplish by the deadline? If so, great.
But sometimes after a hyper-focused period we go back to the other extreme...we might do little or nothing for weeks or even months.
The fitness industry is full of "hyper-focused" programs that can be hard to sustain when you are working full-time and maybe also taking care of kids and just dealing with life. They may (or may not) work in the short-term, but they are simply unrealistic for many people long-term.
But you want results so what can you do?
Finding your fitness groove means finding a sustainable approach that also produces results.
For me, this is basically 3 hours of weight-lifting per week as a baseline and maybe two 30 minute cardio sessions per week.
When I add a reasonable approach to nutrition, this seems to work pretty well...and more importantly it is sustainable.
There may be weeks when I do a little more and some weeks when I do a little less. But 4 hours per week seems to be a great fit for me.
