I am completely fascinated by the psychology of positive human behavior.
Today, I was chatting with Richard, our 96-year-old client who served the country as a Marine during WWII.
I casually asked him what time he goes to bed at night...basically, just to make small talk.
He said he goes to bed "right about 10 pm every night".
I asked him why 10 since he has long been retired, and he has no specific reason to go to bed at that time.
His answer:
"When I was in the military, lights out was at 10.
So I have always gone to bed at 10.
When I was a real estate agent, I went to bed at 10.
Before my wife died, I went to bed at 10.
After my wife died, I went to bed at 10.
And I still go to bed at 10."
Richard hasn't been in the military for over fifty years.
Do something positive long enough, and it can become a lifetime good habit.
